It is no longer global warming because it isn't.

It is climate change because it does.

Men are never so likely to settle a question rightly as when they discuss it freely.

— Thomas B. Macaulay (1800-1859), Essay on Southey's Colloquies

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Reality says: sea levels rise and fall

Reality also says: land rises and subsides

Satellite altimeters measure the absolute level of the sea.

Tidal gauges measure sea level relative to the land. Do you see the problem? We have to determine which is moving relative to the other: land or sea or both. If tidal gauges read flat nothing is moving and sea level is flat. This is the easy case. If tidal gauges report a rise is it because the land is sinking in that area or because the sea is rising or some combination of the two. Since satellite measure the absolute level of the sea satellite data if available for an area can help determine if the sea is rising or the land is sinking. Similarly if the tidal gauge gives a lower reading is it because the sea level is falling or the land is rising? Again, satellite data can corroborate. Understanding the difference between tide gauge data and satellite SLR data is important.

In a study on sea level using tidal gauges it is imperative to make use of the satellite data, if available, to resolve the issue of SLR.

Global warming alarmists say that sea level rise(SLR) is due to hotter temperatures caused by human induced CO2 in the atmosphere which melts the ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland thus adding water to the oceans. People who buy into CAGW expect SLR and will report such rise to be the expected result of climate change. If they do not entertain alternative interpretations or do not include contrary data they are being dishonest and promoting an agenda. They are not engaging in the scientific process but are promoting a  political message. To ignore pertinent data that contradict one's viewpoint is the antithesis of science.

Two recent studies of sea level rise came out in June 2012 - one for the West coast of the US and one for the East coast of the US. Both report rising sea levels and warn of future flooding for coastal areas by 2100. They cite climate change as the cause. A review of the evidence allays fears. It is summer at the Summit in Greenland. California has been warned.

SLR could be due to land subsistence or sea level rise. Whose data do you believe?

One must compare tidal gauge data with satellite data to determine what is happening. One is not enough.

No SLR in La Jolla, CA. This is contrary to the West coast study.

SLR reported in Manhattan, NY. Because they put the tidal gauge on land that is subsiding. It was not known at the time that there would be a global warming crisis in the late 20th century.

Some land rebounds when heavy things like glaciers leave and this results in other areas returning to their natural level as the force raising them up is removed. Think teeter totter. The Atlantic coast of the US has been sinking since the glaciers that covered Lake Superior disappeared.

SLR along the North Carolina coast might reach 5 inches by 2100. Others say more. If the sea level off North Carolina is rising at only half of the global rate does this mean that the coast of N. Carolina is rising? Or are is the global rate inaccurate?

SLR is not accelerating as it is supposed to do under a man-made global warming scenario. This suggests that the additional CO2 that humans are adding to our atmosphere is not having the expected effect. This means that climatologists are attributing too much influence to CO2 than it deserves. If SLR is lower now than it was in the past this also suggests that CO2 has nothing to do with it.

When sea levels fall water is being sequestered in the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica. Glaciers are expanding and snow will remain all year round in some places. Snow accumulation begins. This is not something to welcome with glee. It may be Nature's way of culling the human population.

Is cold during summer more rare than heat during summer? How about skiing?

 Enjoy the interglacial.
