It is no longer global warming because it isn't.

It is climate change because it does.

Men are never so likely to settle a question rightly as when they discuss it freely.

— Thomas B. Macaulay (1800-1859), Essay on Southey's Colloquies

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Fenton to Exxon CEO

Fenton letter to Exxon CEO

My comments in Italics.

Everyone knows the weather is changing.  When hasn't it been changing? That's why we invented weather forecasts.

"worst wildfires in western history are burning" - presumably this means the forest fires in Colorado? How about the one in 1871? Wasn't it worse?Forest Fires are not a thing of the past but they were more frequent in the past.

"1.5 million people are without power in Washington, D.C."  People there are always in the dark. They are mushrooms.

"Record high temperatures are being smashed weekly." Just as they were in Europe during the 2011-2012 winter.

"Obviously, this is only the beginning of this" The climate tends to be cyclical. It will end. It will begin again.

"As emissions keep rising, the earth will continue to warm" Don't think so. Temps in US have been on the decline for 15 years as they have elsewhere.

"the ice will melt" - it always does in the summer but... not to worry it is too cold in Greenland and Antarctica

"the coasts will be swamped" - do they wish for this? seven inches by 2100 won't prompt sale prices on coastal land

"storms will become ever more ferocious" - not happening. Nor will it. Florida has been hurricane free for - how long

" long lifetime of carbon in the atmosphere" - really?

"The path we are on will lead to the extinction of almost half the species on earth." - this guy really needs to do some research rather than just parrot the party line. you might think he has an agenda in mind.

His advice to Exxon: Here is your mistake: Exxon should get ahead of this issue.

Yes, it should. It should get on with the business of exploration and production of crude oil and forget about the catastrophe that will never be.

"Fossil fuel CEOs like you now control the thermostat of the earth." - pure delusion

He ends with a question:

"Once the glaciers start to move, they can't be stopped. Do you really want the blame for that?" Does he mean recede or advance? Glaciers do both due to local conditions. Here was a surprise!

Since CAGW is not happening it is a farce and a dangerous delusion. The world is safe. Nothing catastrophic is happening to the world's climate. Chill, people. Don't you notice that where there is heat elsewhere there is cold. Is that what is meant by The Earth in Balance? Self adaptation in the atmosphere. That's the real story that the MSM has totally missed in their errant pursuit of CAGW hysteria. Fear sells.
