It is no longer global warming because it isn't.

It is climate change because it does.

Men are never so likely to settle a question rightly as when they discuss it freely.

— Thomas B. Macaulay (1800-1859), Essay on Southey's Colloquies

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Another Petermann Iceberg

On Monday July 16, 2012 an iceberg formed from the Peterman glacier just as it has in previous years. This one was half the size of the one that spawned in 2010.

Yawn!

Remember what happened to all the dire predictions about the one in 2010? Me either.

Follow its history? Me either. The MSM will announce the 2012 version with great fanfare as evidence of global warming and a melting Arctic. But....

We'll forget about this one too. And the world will go on.

Icebergs form and icebergs fade into obscurity unless they sink the Titanic. That was in 1912 when CO2 was a lot lower than it is today. How did that iceberg form? Warmer waters? What caused that?

In1935 there was a Russian ship in the ice free Arctic waters 500 miles from the North Pole. Must have been warm then too. In 1923 here were reports of glaciers disappearing and high Arctic temperatures. And CO2 was less than 350ppm at that time. So what caused the heat?

Last winter (2011/2012) Alaskans experienced so much cold and snow that there is talk of an exodus.

In April of 1939 Moscow was freezing and the Arctic was balmy. Definitely a sign of CO2 at work. Oh, wait! It was less than 350ppm at that time. Must have been something else.

Gee, how could that be? Maybe - deep breath - CO2 has nothing to do with the climate. What else can you conclude?

Oh, icebergs form when the glacier is growing from snowfall in the zone of accretion not receding from global warming. It breaks off from a growing glacier not a receding one. In a warming world glaciers are supposed to recede which would suggest a lower supply of icebergs.

Glaciers have been growing folks! Global warming is supposed to make them shrink.
