Tackling Climate Change
“the benefits that come as a result of action to tackle climate change: energy independence, healthy cities, green jobs, conserved forests, clean air and water, healthier children, less disease…”
Except for the green jobs these benefits will also accrue from the use of fossil fuels. The ‘green’ jobs will be replaced by ‘fossil fuel’ jobs and in far greater numbers.
How come the benefits listed make no mention of the improvement to the climate which was the basis for ‘green’ action in the first place?
Aren’t there any improvements to the climate that can be quantified? Or is it just assumed that once CO2 emissions are contained all the bad weather will simply disappear or if it does happen the storms, droughts and floods will bat least be ‘clean’?
Will temperatures be more moderate? By how much?
Will there be fewer hurricanes and tornadoes? By how many?
Will drought become a thing of the past?
Will floods occur less often and be less severe? By how much?
And when can we expect these remarkable improvements to be noticed?
Or do we just brand bad weather ‘clean’ because it now occurs at ‘acceptable to the ruling elite’ levels of CO2 emissions?
Success! Our CO2 atmospheric concentration is back to 350 ppm! All weather is now declared CLEAN! Let the celebrations begin.
In typical government fashion no monitoring of their policies to report on their great success will be forthcoming. Action, any action, is seen as the solution. Whatever happens after the laws have been passed is inconsequential to the success of the policy. Politicians love solutions with no reporting of and no accountability for their success or failure.
They acted with good intentions and therefore they succeeded!
And pigs can fly!
