It is no longer global warming because it isn't.

It is climate change because it does.

Men are never so likely to settle a question rightly as when they discuss it freely.

— Thomas B. Macaulay (1800-1859), Essay on Southey's Colloquies

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Warming Up the Atmosphere

Jeff Masters, chief meteorologist for Weather Underground, offers a simple explanation of the complex science underlying the IPCC report: “When you warm up the atmosphere that means there’s more energy available for severe weather events—so it makes sense that more things could happen,” he said.

More ‘things’ could happen. Now there is a precise statement of the future. It comes straight from a crystal ball on recall.

So 2013 has more CO2 in the air so therefore it must have warmed up (Mother Nature stopped raising the air temperature 17 years ago). The warmer atmosphere must therefore be producing more severe weather events. So let’s check with Mother Nature and see how that is working out for Jeff in 2013.

CO2 must not be trapping the energy over the US. Tornadoes are near record lows. Fires are near record lows. Smokey the Bear is pleased. The Atlantic hurricane season has been a bust. The number of 100+ degree days per year is on the decrease in the US.

Does it sound to you like Jeff Masters knows what he is talking about? Mother Nature has contradicted all his predictions. She is behaving more like an anthropogenic global warming denier.

When things that ‘make sense’  don’t occur what are we to conclude? Could doesn’t always translate into did. Could indicates uncertainty. Mother Nature’s actions defy the ‘logic’ and that means that scientists must acknowledge that their theory is wrong. When that happens science says: modify or abandon the theory because as it stands it is wrong.

In the case of CO2 driven climate models we have observed that increasing CO2 does not result in more severe weather or higher temperatures.

We owe CO2 an apology.

CO2 is a heat trapping gas that doesn’t trap heat. Trapped heat is the phantom of the atmosphere.
