It is no longer global warming because it isn't.

It is climate change because it does.

Men are never so likely to settle a question rightly as when they discuss it freely.

— Thomas B. Macaulay (1800-1859), Essay on Southey's Colloquies

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Distracted From Reality

It is easy for non-scientists to see that climate scientists have become distracted from reality.

What? Aren’t scientists supposed to be studying reality?

Sometimes scientists get emotionally attached to their pet theories and fail to accept that reality does not support their conjectures. They see and seek only confirming instances of their theory.  They are human. It happens.

Take the case of Daniel Shechtman, an Israeli chemist, who refused to bow to the conventional wisdom, the settled science, the consensus in his profession that believed that quasicrystals did not exist in Nature. Guess who won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2011?

Sometimes the consensus is blind. Admittance of cognitive dissonance is denied by the gatekeeper of the mind. It happens.

Are climate scientists who tell us the world is warming and that human emissions of CO2 is the culprit ignoring reality? You be the judge.

A pet theory steadfastly adhered to in the face of contradictory evidence presented by Mother Nature will soon be relegated to the dustbin of history. Kinda like the ‘flat earthers’.
