On Thursday Oct. 13, 2011 Al Gore, former VP of the USA will visit Toronto to warn us about the dangers of CAGW (Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming) and to present a plan as to how we can stop climate change. Unbeknownst to Al this should be quite easy to accomplish as the case for CAGW is collapsing all around him. It is being shown to be a hoax to all with their eyes open. Thank-you Mother Nature. The acronym CAGW should be reworded to stand for Cash into Al Gore's Wallet as his $100k-$180k (depending on which 'Google hit' you wish to believe)  speaking fee will attest. Tickets range between $73 and $175 unless you were lucky enough to snag the Redflagdeals deal of $10 a seat. So, the RTH should at least break even if they can find 2000 devotees.

Some temperature facts for Al since temperature recording began in Toronto: July 7-14, 1936 saw the most extreme heat wave in the region's recorded history. ....During that period, the U of T station reported a high of 40.6°C -- the hottest temperature ever recorded in Toronto. That occurred in 1936: so far Al, no unprecedented warming in Toronto. Watch the video, Al.

Al Gore is doing a disservice to science by overplaying the link between climate change and weather.To claim that we are causing meteorological events that would not have occurred without human influence is just plain wrong.

Interestingly, the temperature, as I write, is an unseasonably warm 81 degrees, (Sun Oct 9, 4pm). This should please Al. The forecast for the week leading up to Thursday Oct 13 is sunny until Wed when rain enters the forecast. Could that be the day the Goreacle arrives in TO? Rain is also forecast for the Thursday speaking date with a temperature of 64 degrees. Is the Gore Effect in play?? There has been a drought in Texas this summer. Sounds like a job for ClimateMan. But wait, didn't the first game of the ALCS in Arlington, Texas suffer from a 2 hour rain delay yesterday(Sat)?? And hasn't game 2 been postponed to Monday because of rain forecast for today(Sun)? Perhaps Mother Nature is solving the drought problem on its own. Sorry, Al.

Fear fosters funding. The media and politicians have always known this. Now scientists have learned the value of addressing their research funding requests to the latest environmental disaster in the making. Fear fosters funding and if you are a scientist you better be relevant and be working on the latest global problem that threatens the earth if you wish to attract research grants. Sometimes this backfires for the alarmist fear mongers and the research undermines the fear. How about this study which does not support the alarm being expressed over sea ice and sea shelf ice loss in the Arctic. Seems in 1923 they were worried about unheard of high temperatures. "Unprecedented" becomes harder to believe.

The CAGW theme will continue to grab MSM (mainstream media) headlines until enough people realize that the Goreacle has no clothes. When viewed in the context of past ice ages the current warming is a welcome relief and should be enjoyed while it lasts. I am here to inform you that there is no need to feel guilt when you turn on your A/C, drive your SUV or jet away  to your favorite vacation destination. CO2 will not send the planet past a tipping point into a runaway global warming. It didn't do so in the past when the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere was many times current levels and it is important to understand why it didn't. And there is no reason to suppose it will do so in the future.

As George Carlin comically ridiculed, the Earth has been through much worse than us.

Enjoy the warming. It will not last for change is what the climate does.

Beware the preachers of fear and doom for they have their own agenda.
