Here is why Heartland is despised

And it has nothing to do with the source of their funding. Heartland will draw attention to studies which call the whole CO2 induced global warming crisis into question. Here is a study that invalidates the IPCC climate models as useful guides to future climate. Those models cannot simulate the real world radiative balance at the top of the atmosphere(TOA). The study "suggests that the historical rise in the air's CO₂ content has likely played a next-to-negligible role in the post-Little Ice Age warming of the world."

This news will not be welcomed by the CAGW crowd and so they deflect attention to the funders of the study rather than asking if the claims made are true.

Here is another study reported in Climate Change Reconsidered data from the Heartland Institute.  This study reports that there is no trend in tropical cyclones in East Asia as CO2 has increased in the atmosphere. The study covered the years 1945-2000 and concluded: "none of the time series shows a significant linear temporal trend, which suggests that global warming has not led to more landfalls in any of the regions in Asia."

This is just more cognitive dissonance for the CAGW alarmists. It invalidates the man-made global warming hypothesis.

In a warming world

In a warming world winters are supposed to get warmer so that the ice and snow will become a thing of the past at 30-60 latitude and snow and ice will melt in the 60-90 thus raising sea levels.

Tornadoes have nothing to do with CO2

Much is being made of the 80 March tornadoes of 2012. Some climate scientists have weighed in with the opinion that as the world warms earlier tornadoes will become a more frequent occurrence.

What does the data say? Tornadoes are associated with cold weather.

Ho hum, some are dumb

The rains in Australia were not supposed to return based on American climate models. Nature didn't pay attention to the models or the prognostications of the Climate Commissioner in Australia. But the weather always has been hard to predict. Our climate models still need some work. If they can't predict 4 years out it is difficult to accept their forecasts for a century from now.

Australia had been experiencing a long period of drought (12 years or more) so in the political climate of climate change the drought was declared to be due to climate change. And true to its nature the climate changed again and now Australia is suffering from floods. Damn weather! Makes it hard to plan for it!

Deemed an "advancing glacier," the ice is continually growing and expanding outward, gradually occupying more and more territory.

Is this puzzling? In a warming world shouldn't all glaciers recede due to the increased CO2 in our atmosphere? How does the theory account for the expansion of certain glaciers? The Hubbard in Alaska does the same thing.

 Perhaps an explanation is found here.  No reference to Co2 needed.

Here is some supporting evidence for the lack of CO2 involvement in glacier movement. The Glaciar Jorge Montt in Chilean Patagonia has retreated 19.5 km during the 1898-2011 period. However, researchers have found that trees uncovered since 2003 were dated to 260 to 450 years before the present. This means that in those times the glacier was even further upvalley than it is now. Supposedly CO2 wwas lower then than now. Something else caused the warming back then. 

Permanent drought in Australia? Wrong again.

False beliefs can ruin your day or the day of the people you govern. After 13 years of drought in parts of Australia it was declared permanent because everyone knew that global warming was the cause and that that would dry up rivers and other sources of water. The experts know what is best. Read what they had to say not so long ago.

And then the rains came. It is reminiscent of the comment made by Governor Rick Perry when he said that the rains would return to end the Texas drought. Looks like he has learned the lesson that some 'climate scientists' and other climate know-it-alls have failed to learn: climate change is cyclical.

When hot weather results in the evaporation of water it is not destroyed but 'hides' in the atmosphere as water vapor. Sooner or later it is going to come back down. The rains may return to the arid area and remove all drought. It appears that a fail-safe way to ensure the return of the rains is to have some politically motivated climate scientist pronounce the drought to be permanent. Perhaps the CAGW skeptics have a point. But, wait! CO2 causes flooding too! CO2 causes drought; CO2 causes flooding. Magical CO2!

The presence of CO2 in the area doesn't seem to have much effect. There can be drought or floods regardless of its concentration. CO2 is an innocent bystander indicted by politically motivated people who want to blame humans for all things bad in order to gain control over the human use of resources and the creation of wealth. The rich want to reserve the earth for themselves.

It is not the poor and uneducated who came up with this scheme. And some of them will have to go.
