Alarmists like to remind us that Arctic Sea Ice is lower now than it was in 1979 and has been on a downward trend. They attribute this to Anthropogenic Global Warming. However history suggests that Arctic Sea Ice has been lower in the past when CO2 was also lower in the atmosphere. The latest paper to confirm this is explored below.
In his seminal 1982 book Climate, History, and the Modern World, the renown climatologist Dr. H.H. Lamb revealed that sea ice in the subarctic and Arctic regions was much less extensive during the Medieval Warm Period (9th-13th centuries) compared to today.
Warm weather in the Arctic excites alarmists who launch into a ‘See, I told you so’ routine.
As the alarmists do their thing we get reports and observations which put the reason for the alarm in proper historical context. The alarm fades away as knowledge informs the discussion. A warm spike or Arctic ‘heatwave’ did not stop Greenland from ADDing lots of snow during the Arctic ‘heatwave’. Snow requires cold temperatures.
Not content to report their alarmism some powers that be are proving their case by selectively reporting the data. Data fiddlers can tell any story they wish to tell but it won’t be true. Their case must be very weak to need the support of fraudsters.
But other scientists,contradicting the alarmist narrative, are exposing the lies.
The iconic polar bears are not cooperating with the narrative that has been developed for them and are thriving no matter what the state of Arctic Sea Ice has actually been over the last 60 years of increasing human emissions of carbon dioxide.(CO23).
In short there is nothing unusual or outside the bounds of natural variability taking place in the contemporary Arctic. The Arctic is fine. It is the alarmists who see what they want to see to advance their agenda.

Mencken was quite an astute American observer of the political landscape back in the 30s, 40s and 50s.
